I’ve just watched the video for the catwalk show of Betsey Johnson’s Spring ‘07 collection and now that I've woken up from my trance of sheer joy, I can safely say that I officially luuurve it! Everything’s so feminine and gorgeous, combining the current trend for flouncy mini dresses with everything sweet and girlie such as frills, bows and silky fabrics. The models tottered down the runway in the highest platforms known to man and the hair and makeup was all about romance – volumous curls crowned by jewel-coloured ribbons. The final piece was a sugary-sweet candy floss coloured prom dress with a bouncy puff-ball skirt – gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! In the immortal words of Clueless, it was so sweet it gave me a toothache...
The moral of this story is that if you look up the word 'glorious' in the dictionary, there should just be a photo of Betsey Johnson looking smug. (If you look closely, I'm in the background of the photo, as wide eyed as Bambi, wearing a tee-shirt with "I Love Betsey" scrawled across the front in unicorn blood...because unicorn blood is, of course, pink.)
